Thank you to all the swimmers and volunteers who participated in the 2nd annual Waves of Hope Swim. We had a great time, swam pretty fast, and most importantly raised another $10,000 for Juvenile Diabetes. Congratulations to Michael Mattera and Julianne Koch our 1st place finishers. Great job! There's an exciting announcement in the News section that you'll want to read. And there's a great article from the Boston Globe on the alarming rise in injury rates among young athletes. Look for the "What's new at B.A.S.E." column at the lower right of his home page. Coach Mike put together a nutritional guide that should be helpful for those swimmers who are going to meets. |

Team Suffolk Lucky Duckies!The 2010 8 & Under Championships were a blast. Team Suffolk's 8 & Unders waddled around the pool deck while preparing for their races. They were the best looking ducks in town! Congratulations to Three Village Swim Club for winning the Spirit Award and breaking Team Suffolk's four year reign! Those Three Village Pirates made everyone walk the plank! Thanks to all the parents and swimmers who helped make 8 & Under Championships a success. Thanks to the Team Suffolk Swim Board who always support the up and coming swimmers and give so much of their time. Attention Swimmers
PLEASE NOTE:
The older Fastskin II swimsuits with Turbulence Management System vortex controllers on the chest are not legal for competition unless the dots are peeled off. If you swim at a meet wearing this suit without the dots peeled off you will be disqualified. (Note: The newer Fastskin II swimsuits do not have the dots.)
From the New USA Swimming Competitive Swimming Swimsuit Rules:
- Swimsuits for men may not extend above the navel or below the knee and for women may not cover the neck, or extend past the shoulders or below the knee;
- Material used for swimsuits can be only textile material which is defined as materials consisting of natural and/or synthetic, individual and non-consolidated yarns used to constitute a fabric by weaving, knitting, and/or braiding. Simply put, this would generally refer to suits made only from nylon or Lycra that do not have any rubberized material such as polyurethane or neoprene; and
- No zippers or other fastening devices are allowed except for a waist tie on a brief or jammer.

Update on Team Suffolk Alumni
 |
The 2010 Patriot League Championships hosted by the Navy team in Annapolis concluded this weekend. 3 Team Suffolk alumni competed at the championships. Freshman Emily Didonato swam for Lehigh University, while Jonathan Podniesinski and Billy Kraus represented Bucknell University. All 3 did very well this weekend. We are proud of our Team Suffolk Alumni, and we wish them all the best in college and in the pool. |

Boys Suffolk County State Qualifier Results
Section XI Boys 2010 Championships State Qualifying Meet Results.
In the 200 IM, Team Suffolk swimmers placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th and 10th in the top 10 spots.
Team Suffolk swimmers placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th in the 100 Breaststroke.
A Team Suffolk swimmer placed 2nd in the 50 Free.
Team Suffolk swimmers swam in the 200 Medley and 400 Free Relays and came in first place.

Half Hollow Hills' John Pangal was the lone swimmer to qualify for the state meet that swam one of the preliminary heats. Pangal ended up placing fifth overall - beating four swimmers who made the final heat - to post a 4:52.59 and qualify in the 500 free.
